Comment gérer l'évasion de Maskne
What is Maskne?
As a result of the pandemic situation, ‘Face Masks’ has become a part of our daily routine. Maskne, known as mask acne, is a constantly discussed beauty topic in the current context, which coincides with the current pandemic situation.
Maskne is a skin condition/ foam of acne that is caused as a result of wearing a mask. Maskne is not only pimples, it can also include skin redness, bumpiness, and irritation. However, the causes of having Maskne can vary based on the skin type. Most of the time, Maskne popped up as a result of clogged pores in oily skin. This occurs as a result of blocking the pores by wearing a mask that already has oil, bacteria, and dead cells.
Furthermore, the mask holds humidity from sweating and breathing, which can lead to acne. Another important point is the friction of the fabric that is used for the mask which can rub against the face leads to irritation and chaffing. Else, your skin may be sensitive or allergic to the material used in the mask. Some of the masks have been chemically treated, which may cause them to feel harsh on the skin.
How to treat to Maskne Condition
Even if you have Maskne, you must wear a mask in the current situation. However, the following tips may assist you in overcoming a Maskne condition if the symptoms emerge.
- Wash your face regularly
Wash your face in the morning, at night, and whenever after wearing a mask. Use your face with a mild cleanser and with lukewarm water. Using a clean towel, pat your skin dry. Avoid rubbing your face because it may irritate your skin.
- Use a Mild/Gentle Cleanser
Try to avoid cleansers that contain alcohol or perfumes as they may cause skin irritations and use a gentle cleanser that helps to remove excess oil, sweat, dirt, and other impurities.
- Use non-comedogenic Moisturizer
Once cleansing the face, apply a moisturizer to maintain the hydration level of the skin. When using moisturizers use non-comedogenic moisturizers which will not block the pores.
- Try to take a break from makeup.
Try to avoid makeup products such as foundations, concealers, blushes as those will block the pores when you are treating Maskne conditions.
- Discard the Mask after each use
Do not use the same you once wore and always use a fresh mask as much as possible. Always make sure to remove/discard the mask responsibly.
- Give your skin a breathing space by removing the mask every 04 hours
As recommended by the American Acadamy of Dermatology Association it is better to give your skin a break by removing the mask for about 15 minutes every 04 hours. It is always important to keep in mind to maintain the social distance when removing the mask and to wash your hands before taking the mask off.
Apply Moisturizer before wearing a mask
If you have dry skin, before wearing a mask apply moisturizer [ non-comedogenic] as it will help to treat skin irritation conditions and keep your skin hydrated.
- Choose the right mask for you
Avoid using face masks made of synthetic, nylon, or rayon, as these materials might irritate the skin. Use a mask that fits your face comfortably but not too tightly, has two or more layers, is made of cotton or natural fabric, and has a wire at the top to prevent air from leaking through.
